What the extension does
TranslateSky is a bring-your-own-key browser extension. It adds English translations below non-English posts on bsky.app. Posts that need translation are sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you choose, using your own API key.
What is stored, and where
Everything the extension keeps stays in your browser's extension storage on your device:
- Whether translation is on or paused.
- The provider in use, the model you chose for each provider, and an API key for each provider you set up.
- A local cache of recent translations.
- Local counters for posts examined, cache hits, provider requests, and token totals.
Removing a key in the extension settings, or removing the extension, deletes it.
Who you talk to
Text from posts that need translation is sent from your browser to your chosen provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, or xAI) with your API key. Posts that are already in English, or have no text, are skipped before any request. How the provider handles that text is governed by your agreement with the provider.
What we never receive
- No analytics, tracking scripts, or telemetry.
- No account with us is needed.
- Your keys, the posts you translate, and your usage counters are never sent to Three Things Media.
- No data is sold or used for advertising.
